DaoDoges take you on a journey to find the dao, the universal truth.
And, since they are unique, they all do it differently — you may find them hiking mountains or sailing a boat, either alone or with friends.
Yet on every stage, they carry a special symbol that dates back thousands of years — a trigram or a hexagram.
Wait, a what-gram?
Well, these simple yet powerful symbols form the base of the Daoist cosmology. And today, DaoDoges offer divination wisdom through the meaning these symbols carry.
Dao (道) signifies the way, the natural order of the universe or the inner truth. In Daoism, dao is the source, pattern, and substance of everything that exists. The concept stems from Yi Jing (also I Ching), the Book of Changes, one of the oldest classics of East Asian philosophy with major influence on Daoism, Buddhism and Confucianism.

DaoDoges are indeed a special breed. They come with several attributes that determine their uniqueness. Apart from trigrams and hexagrams, their features are:

🔥 Yes, you can (and should) create your own
Half of the DaoDoges collection (8,888) contains trigrams and can be adopted for a small fee. The other half (also 8,888) comes with hexagrams but is not available for purchase. Instead, these are left for you and the community to create and add to the collection.
How?
Well, much like every hexagram is formed of two trigrams, you create a new hexagram DaoDoge by fusing (and burning) two trigram DaoDoges.
But if trigram DaoDoges are burned during the fusion process, aren’t they lost from the collection? Not to worry, there is a safety switch — you can optionally revive the original DaoDoges before fusion and keep them active and available for the future and for creating new hexagram DaoDoges.
So, unlike other NFTs out there that are just passively waiting for collectors to pay the price and hodl them, DaoDoges encourage you and the NFT community to do their part in completing the collection.
💸 What about the cost of DaoDoges?
DaoDoges are all about equal opportunities and fair distribution. For this reason, the ones that can be adopted (8,888 trigram DaoDoges) will be available at a flat price.
The other 8,888 hexagram DaoDoges can not be purchased but can only be created by you and other community members — these don’t come with a price tag and are just priceless.
In other words, you decide what their value is, so make sure you take into account all the attributes that make them one in a million.
